Please email us any questions, we'll be happy to reply and will add anything useful to this page.
How do I make a booking?
Please read the Four Oaks Terms and Conditions.
On each page below the menu there is a Check Availability button, this lets you see which rooms are available on which dates and the associated room rates.
Select your preference for dates and room options, selecting double or single occupancy. Then select any extras (e.g. use of EV car charger, photography course etc).
After that fill in your contact details to complete the booking process. Please enter your planned arrival time if you can (we understand this may be uncertain).
You will be sent a confirmation email with your unique booking reference (please quote this if you need help with your booking).
A follow on email will have your invoice with payment details.
Payment is via bank transfer or PayPal if you prefer (you don't need a PayPal account).
If you have a PayPal account then payment can be made via the Four Oaks PayPal Me page.
If you don't have a PayPal account then please ask us to email you a PayPal invoice with a payment link.
Do you have a contact phone number?
We don't have a landline and the house is so well insulated that it can block mobile phone signals. There is a mobile number that is shown when booking but it relies on WiFi calling when we're in the house and may often go to voice mail. For this reason the easiest way to get hold of us is usually by email or WhatsApp.
What are the check in and check out times?
Check in 16:00 to 18:00.
Breakfast 08:00 to 09:00 (those needing a prompt start can request a special early breakfast from 07:00).
Check out by 10:00.
If you need a late check in (say due to a ferry or flight etc) this is normally possible, by arrangement, please just contact us in advance to confirm.
What is your short-term let (STL) licensing status?
The Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982 (Licensing of Short-term Lets) Order 2022 came into law on 1 March 2022 and requires bed and breakfasts in Scotland to be licensed going forward.
Argyll and Bute Council requested that existing short term lets businesses apply after the end of 2022 and before the deadline of 1 October 2023.
Four Oaks applied in June 2023 for an STL license and await a licence number.
Do you welcome cyclists?
Yes, we very much welcome cyclists.
We are in an ideal place, being located on National Cycle Network 78, known as The Caledonia Way which runs 234 miles from Campbeltown to Inverness, through some amazing scenery, including the beautiful Glen Lonan.
Bicycles can be left in our locked garage for secure keeping overnight.
Can I charge my electric or plug-in hybrid car?
Yes, we have a 7kw EV charger. You will need a cable with a standard Type 2 (IEC 62196 / Mennekes) connector to use the charger. There will be a fee depending on usage. As we have two rooms but only one EV charger please let us know if you plan to use it when booking to avoid disappointment.
