Frequently Asked Questions
- When will you start taking bookings?
We are just starting to take a few online bookings, further availability should start to open up through July 2021.
- How do I make a booking?
Please read the Four Oaks Terms and Conditions.
On the home page there is a Check Availability button, this lets you see which rooms are available on which dates and the associated room rates.
Select your preference for dates and room options, selecting double or single occupancy. Then select any extras (e.g. use of EV car charger).
After that fill in your contact details to complete the booking process. If you can please enter your planned arrival time (we understand this may be uncertain).
You will be sent a confirmation email with your unique booking reference (please quote this if you need help with your booking).
Payment is via PayPal (you don't need an account).
If you do have a PayPal account then payment can be made via the Four Oaks PayPal Me page.
If you don't have a PayPal account then you will be emailed an invoice with a payment link.
- Do you have a contact phone number?
We don't have a landline and the house is so well insulated that it can block mobile phone signals. There is a mobile number that is shown when booking but it will go to voice mail unless we are out and about. For this reason the easiest way to get hold of us is by email.
- What are the check in and check out times?
Check in 16:00 to 18:00.
Breakfast 08:00 to 09:00 (those needing a prompt start can request a special early breakfast from 07:00).
Check out 09:00 to 10:00.
If a ferry or flight means you need a late check in this is normally possible, by arrangement, please just contact us to confirm.
- Is there a mailing list?
There will be a newsletter to keep you updated on news and special offers. To subscribe please fill in the form which should appear here (once filled in you shouldn't see it again).
If you don't see the form please check your pop-up blocker settings or in case of any problems we can manually add or remove you from the list, just email your name, email address and your add/remove preference.
- Do you welcome cyclists?
Yes, we very much welcome cyclists.
We are in an ideal place, being located on National Cycle Network 78, known as The Caledonia Way which runs 234 miles from Campbeltown to Inverness, through some amazing scenery, including the beautiful Glen Lonan.
Bicycles can be left in our locked garage for secure keeping overnight. We have a drying room for damp clothing and footwear.
- Can I charge my electric or plug-in hybrid car?
Yes, we have a 7kw EV charger. You will need a cable with a standard Type 2 (IEC 62196 / Mennekes) connector to use the charger. There will be a small fee depending on usage. As we have two rooms but only one EV charger please let us know if you plan to use it when booking to avoid disappointment.
- What wildlife do you have?
The rural glen location is ideal for seeing a variety of birds including buzzards, and even from time to time the occasional eagle overhead. We have bird feeders in the garden with binoculars and a bird identification book in the guest sitting room and further binoculars in each bedroom. Apart from the sheep you may also see red squirrels, pine martens, pipistrelle bats and roe deer.
- Can we bring our dog?
Sorry, we do not take pets. However there are a number of kennels in the area, for example Lochandubh Pet Boarding is about 10 miles away.
